Ten Men Can’t Hold On as Ipswich Fight Back
Crystal Palace made the perfect start at Selhurst Park, going ahead through Khalaili in the 14th minute exactly as our model expected. But Ipswich Town hit back through a fine Emerson header in the 23rd minute, then took the lead before half-time through Davis — and the game turned decisively on 34 minutes when Palace defender Axel Disasi was shown a straight red card for a dangerous, studs-up tackle on Jack Clarke.
Reduced to ten men for the majority of the contest, Palace still found a way back level through a brilliant Strand Larsen strike with 15 minutes left, setting up a grandstand finish. It wasn’t enough — Zian Flemming scored his first goal for Ipswich in the 90th minute to complete a dramatic 3-2 away win, ending Ipswich’s two-game losing run and handing Palace their first defeat of the run-in under Pierre Sage.
Five goals and a red card made for one of the most eventful games of the Matchweek 4 round — while our headline Palace-win pick didn’t survive the sending-off, the goals and both-Teams-to-score picks held up exactly as expected. See the full breakdown below as part of our ongoing Premier League predictions track record.
How Our AI Picks Fared
Two out of four on this one — the red card was always going to be the pre-match model’s blind spot, and once Palace went down to ten men the handicap and correct score calls were always going to be in trouble. The goals and BTS picks held up regardless. That’s the transparency we promise on our AI Track Record page: no hiding losses, wins and misses both get logged.
