The South Coast Revolution

AFC Bournemouth is a testament to resilience. Based in the seaside town of Bournemouth, Dorset, the “Cherries” survived near-extinction in 2008 to become a mainstay in the world’s most competitive league.

Transitioning from the classic red-and-white to the iconic AC Milan-inspired red and black stripes in 1971, the club has built a reputation for high-octane football and a “giant-killer” mentality against the league’s heavyweights.

Historical Milestones
  • 1971 Official name change from Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic to AFC Bournemouth.
  • 2008-09 Started League Two with -17 points; achieved “The Greatest Escape” under Eddie Howe.
  • 2015 Champions of the Championship, reaching the Premier League for the first time.
  • Present Day Consolidated Premier League status under the ownership of Bill Foley.
